Meaning and boundaries
A chip is not automatically a shallow pit, scratch, or harmless cosmetic blemish; edge and radial cracking may accompany it.
Why it matters in glass restoration
Location, depth, remaining cracks, glass type, and load environment determine whether the condition is cosmetic, restorable, or unsafe.
