Meaning and boundaries

Often called a soft coat, but products vary and the nickname should not replace the manufacturing-process term.

Why it matters in glass restoration

Many MSVD coatings are protected within a glazing assembly; an exposed or unidentified coating is a stop-and-verify condition before abrasion or polishing.
