Meaning and boundaries

Chemical durability is not one universal number. Results depend on glass composition, surface condition, chemical, concentration, temperature, time, and the measurement method.

Why it matters in glass restoration

It provides the parent concept for water, acid, and alkali resistance without implying that one laboratory test predicts every field condition.
