Meaning and boundaries
Pits differ from removable particles, stains, and shallow surface films. A pit's cause cannot be determined from shape alone.
Why it matters in glass restoration
Pitting changes surface topography and may coexist with chemical attack, weld spatter, impact, embedded metal, or aggressive cleaning damage.
