Meaning and boundaries

The appearance does not identify the exact tool. Steel wool, abrasive pads, grit trapped under a blade or cloth, and contaminated equipment can produce different patterns.

Why it matters in glass restoration

A cause-based label should be used only when the pattern and work history support it, because similar haze can result from corrosion, coatings, or deposits.
